Ritelite Lighting Supports BG 3×3 League Tournament in Knjaževac, Serbia
Our team recently attended the Under 15’s FIBA 3×3 Basketball tournament in Knjaževac, Serbia, hosted by the BG 3×3 League, one of our parters who specialises in delivering professional temporary 3×3 basketball events across the country.
The tournament formed part of the league’s growing programme of competitions and was broadcast live on television, placing particularly high importance on the quality and uniformity of the lighting provided on court.
To support their events, the BG 3×3 League has invested in Ritelite Quad Pod K65 mobile lighting towers and Sports-LITE portable floodlights, which they now use across a wide range of indoor and outdoor 3×3 basketball tournaments held throughout the year.
Although the organisation only began a few years ago, it has grown rapidly and now provides temporary 3×3 basketball courts for the professional Serbian league, supporting players from junior development teams through to world champion adult teams. Today the BG 3×3 League delivers around 70 events each year, building and managing complete tournament environments in locations across Serbia.
At the Knjaževac tournament, four Quad Pod K65 mobile sports lighting towers were used to illuminate the main court. These units enable the organisers to carefully control lighting levels and achieve the lux levels required for televised matches, while maintaining excellent uniformity across the playing surface.
The ability to achieve consistent, uniform lighting is particularly important for referees, players and television cameras, ensuring that the court is evenly illuminated with minimal shadows and providing the clearest possible view for both spectators and broadcast audiences.
The mobility of the Quad Pod K65 systems also plays an important role in the BG 3×3 League’s operations. The towers can be transported easily between venues alongside the modular flooring, hoops and other court infrastructure, allowing the team to move efficiently from one event to the next. This flexibility significantly reduces setup time and allows the organisers much greater freedom in choosing event locations.
Alongside the match lighting, Sports-LITE portable floodlights are used to create dedicated training and warm-up areas for teams before games begin. These lights allow organisers to quickly illuminate any area, both indoors and outdoors, and on almost any terrain. This flexibility means clubs can warm up effectively without impacting the main court schedule.
Preparation for each tournament begins one day before the event, when the BG 3×3 League team arrives on site to construct the court from scratch. This includes installing the modular basketball flooring, setting up the hoops, positioning the lighting towers and assembling the distinctive LED screen officials’ table used during matches.
On the day of the tournament, the team completes the final preparations including the TV broadcast and podcast station, the team entrance light tunnel and the full range of event branding and sponsor materials such as banners and promotional displays.
For these types of urban sporting events it is also important that lighting systems operate silently and without emissions, particularly when tournaments take place in city environments or indoors. The ability to power the lighting from mains electricity or batteries rather than generators allows the BG 3×3 League to maintain a professional event atmosphere while avoiding noise and exhaust emissions.
Before investing in the Quad Pod K65 mobile lighting towers, one of the biggest challenges faced by the organisers was insufficient or inconsistent lighting, which could affect both player visibility and broadcast quality. Achieving high lux levels and strong uniformity across the court is essential for the fast-paced nature of 3×3 basketball, ensuring that referees, players and cameras have a clear view of the action at all times.
The successful tournament in Knjaževac demonstrated how portable, high-performance lighting solutions can support professional sporting events wherever they take place, enabling organisers like the BG 3×3 League to deliver high-quality competitions across a wide range of venues.
